I have finished my week long intense technology class and I have a HUGE paper to write. I have to say that this class was the least enjoyable of the classes I have taken at UVA. I think that it was just information overload. I also started to blow up like a balloon because our professor bought Panera Bread everyday for breakfast and lunch. It was a CARB fest to say the least and then we sat on our butts all day. Not good for my diet. I have been reading the south beach diet book and it sounds pretty good. I think if I combine that with weight watchers and basically start eating good carbs and stay away from bad carbs then I will be ok.
Mariah is cutting her five year molers. She is losing and growing teeth all over the place. She is quite fussy these days but in a good way I suppose. :-)

Fun filled weekend!
This past weekend was packed full. On friday night I went to Friday's After Five with Kristen and some of her friends at musictoday. We ended up getting some free drinks and eating the best pizza ever made...Christian's Pizza....heavenly. The next morning Mariah called to let me know that she lost a tooth....(see picture). Later that afternoon I went with Kristen to see Batman: The Dark Knight.....it totally exceeded my expectations. I did not see the first movie so I was expecting the series to be similar to the Batman movies of the 90's with Michael Keaton......I was SOOOO wrong! I loved the movie and it was so dark and intense. Heath Ledger's performance of the Joker was absolutely amazing! I watched the first movie on DVD on Sunday morning. while recovering from a popcorn overdose. :-)
On Saturday night Kristen and I went down to the Obama headquarters for the Grand Opening at the new campaign office on the downtown mall. David Toscano (Charlottesville's delegate and my lawyer) opened with some inspiring remarks and he was so amazed with the turnout. When he finished he mingled through the crowd and he came by and gave me a big hug. I am amazed that he always remembers who I am especially since it has been about 5 years since the big D (divorce). I actually became involved in politics when David was running for Charlottesville's delegate. I worked the farmers market on Saturday's with Mariah and felt pretty fired up.....that just keeps on growing. The party was fun and we were able to eat some amazing food and mingle with some really nice people. Since the turnout was so high we almost passed out from a heat stroke but we were able to make it through the speeches. Above is a picture of Mariah's missing tooth. ENJOY!

Only a few days left of my summer vacation.....
Ok, today I am writing my first official blog. I have written quite a few blogs on my myspace page and I am going to transfer them over here soon. I have been writing mostly about my experiences working with the Obama campaign here in Charlottesville. I'm going to expand upon that just for the heck of it. Today Mariah Jane and I dropped off 3 folding chairs and a huge ream of colored paper for the new headquarters on the downtown mall. I have to laugh because she whined the whole way because the paper was heavy and I was carrying three chairs and walking like I just turned 100 years old. My fingers have been bothering me lately so this didn't help. :-) I am constantly amazed by the amount of excitement. Not to mention all of the people building offices inside the old A&N building. That is some hard work and just shows an amazing amount of dedication. I recognized a few people from the party Kristen and I attended after the primary back in February......two words.....Dwight Shrute (the Office)......Kristen, I know you will get that. Anyway, we are geared up to attend the grand opening on Saturday and i'm sure we will grab a glass of wine on the way out at Enoteca....a new restaurant that also has awesome panini's.
Well, summer is reaching the end for me. I am starting my summer classes at UVA and next week i'll be stuck inside from 8:30-5:30. I am excited and nervous about this class. It is a leadership technology class. I feel like I have a pretty good grip on technology but when I called the help desk to set up my laptop I felt like the guy was talking gibberish......I basicially answered "uh huh" and decided that I would find a written tutorial......i'm definitely not an auditory learner but a visual and kinesthetic learner.....so if you ever try to give me verbal directions on how to get to your house my response will most likely be..."uh huh" and then I will proceed to google your address. :-) Anyway, Mariah stayed home this summer for the first time. It flew by a lot faster than I expected and we didn't get to travel this summer due to the lovely prices of gas these days.
Happy Summer!
